What’s the difference between a life coach and a therapist?

Therapists are highly trained and skilled to diagnose clients and work with them on looking into the past and helping the client overcome serious difficulties and struggles from their past experiences. Therapy is needed in many situations, and a coach should never try to take the place of a therapist.

A coach may look into the past from time to time with a client in order to understand where the client is in the present. But a coach focuses on the present and helps to set the client up to achieve the present and the future they desire.

How long is a session?

My sessions last for one hour. We may recap on a previous session and talk about progress made, and then move into the content of the present session.

What is needed from me as a coaching client?

This is important. I cannot make change happen in anyone’s life. Only you can make the changes you want to make. I can guide you to deciding what those changes are, and how to go about them. I do this by using proven methods in providing clarity and tools to help discover your talents, potential, wishes, and what works for you. But the action is up to you. If you’re ready to make real, positive changes in your life, or improve in any area, I’ll need for you to be committed, willing, open and honest.

How do I know if I’m ready to be coached?

A wise woman passed along to me some very valuable knowledge. “When the student is ready, the teacher will come.” The fact that your seeking out a coach means that you are willing, and when you find the coach that you believe can help you, you’ll know you’re ready.
